Nose: Mild Cinnamon, Milled Corn, Rye Spice, Lemon, and Light Caramel. The nose is timid, but shows character.
Taste/Palate: Sweet Vanilla, Caramel Chew, and Diet Cola. A tiny bit of Rye Spice leading the sip but it quickly disappears through the palate.
Finish: The Rye Spice picks up in the finish along side Black Pepper and Sweet Tobacco melded with the sweet notes from the palate.
Verdict: This is an easy sipper. It has some character and nice balance, but this one I feel has been watered down a bit much. I don’t mind lower proof whiskies, but this one was timid overall and I think had more to offer with 5-10 more proof points. For the price it delivers, just wish there was a little more.
The Story: I’ll take a shot at any ~50 dollar double digit aged whiskey. I’m usually not disappointed and this one was no exception. I wasn’t disappointed, but I wasn’t blown away either. I always review first and research after. I noticed the tasting notes on TINCUP’s page and its apparent that what I got from this dram was definitely different from what’s listed on the site. All palates can get something different. There’s some key similarities, but what surprised me was the order in which I got the sweet vs spice in comparison to the site’s tasting notes.
The Distillery’s Story: “TINCUP was an old mining town set on the western side of the Rockies named after the old cups the miners would drink from. The name TINCUP Whiskey and the cap on the bottle are both nods to this piece of Colorado history.”

Methodologies for Rating:
1. Dump it down the drain or regift it to someone you don’t care for.
2. This doesn’t even belong in a mixed drink. Use in case of an emergency.
3. It’s really not for me, but I heard some people like it.
4. Its only good when I’ve had too many and it’s decent in a mixer.
5. Average. Not bad, but not special.
6. Above average. Good to bring to an event and you wouldn’t expect any guff from it.
7. Buy two if you see it to make sure you have one on reserve.
8. Very Very good. Constantly a GREAT POUR.
9. Superb. If I were to drink this and only this from now on I’d be a happy person.
10. Perfection is impossible. But this really comes as close as you can possibly get.
