*Disclaimer: A score of 5 is the midpoint for my reviews. Above 5 I like it. Below 5 I didn’t for some reason. Most of my reviews are between 4-7. It takes something really really special to go above 7 or below 4. See the methodologies for rating at the end of the article

Nose: Cedar, Chocolate Covered Cherries, Caramel, Vanilla, & Nutmeg.

Taste/Palate: Slightly Thin and Dry. Mild Caramel. Peanut Brittle, Mild Oak and Char, Sweet Raisins.

Finish: Light and Smooth. The Raisins carry through and finish with sweeter notes of Caramel and Toffee. Very light on oak and Char on the finish.

Verdict: Highly Recommended. From the nose to the palate there was something that kept me coming back for another sip. It was very well balanced and hit all the notes for me. Pleasantly surprised. I don’t think I have ever had Amarone wine… Or even heard of it, but it definitely made this limited edition bourbon a top choice in my book.
MSRP: BUY Price Ceiling: $150 (The most I’d pay for this bottle)

Yellowstone Limited Edition is similar to WhistlePig Boss Hog. In that they do creative blending and finishing for their yearly release. I have had 3 different versions of Boss Hog now and this 2021 Yellowstone LE is better than all 3 of the Boss Hogs and 1/5th of the price (In my humble opinion).

The Story: I don’t have a long winded story on this one. I have passed numerous bottles of Yellowstone LE in prior years and didn’t pull the trigger on the purchase, but since I’ve been reviewing this was on my radar for 2021. I’m glad I purchased this and it was worth the MSRP.

The Distillery’s Story (My summary): It’s always best to read the distillers story in their own words. My summary is like a cliff notes version. Limestone Branch I believe is considered a Craft Distiller. Per their web site they have a long standing family tradition dating back to the 1700s. They opened Limestone Branch in 2011 in Lebanon Kentucky. The distillery is small, but this 2021 LE release is big. I’m going to go on a mission to track down previous versions of LE Yellowstone to see if they are just as good.

Methodologies for Rating:
1. Dump it down the drain or regift it to someone you don’t care for.
2. This doesn’t even belong in a mixed drink. Use in case of an emergency.
3. It’s really not for me, but I heard some people like it.
4. Its only good when I’ve had too many and it’s decent in a mixer.
5. Solid. It hit all of what’s expected.
6. Above average. Good to bring to an event and you wouldn’t expect any guff from it.
7. Buy two if you see it to make sure you have one on reserve.
8. Very Very good. Constantly a GREAT POUR.
9. Superb. If I were to drink this and only this from now on I’d be a happy person.
10. Perfection is impossible. But this really comes as close as you can possibly get.

Nose, Palate, and Finish I rank regardless of cost. Value (recent addition) is ranked based on taste vs price.
